The Passive House International Conference, widely regarded as the preeminent event in the field of building energy efficiency, is recognized as the pinnacle of international gatherings focused on sustainable construction. It boasts unparalleled global participation, authoritative stature, and substantial credibility and influence. The primary objective of this conference is to advance the adoption of passive ultra-low energy consumption building technology, mitigate carbon emissions, and foster worldwide energy conservation, emission reduction, and sustainable development. Marking a significant milestone, the conference made its debut outside of Europe in China in 2019, representing the first instance since its inception in 1996 that this prestigious event transcended continental boundaries. The conference theme, "Passive House All Over the World," underscores the aspiration to disseminate passive house principles worldwide.
The opening ceremony of the 23rd International Passive House Conference and the 5th China (Gaobeidian) International Door and Window Expo took place in Gaobeidian, Hebei, on October 9, 2019. Esteemed government officials, passive house experts, and industry leaders from over 50 countries and regions convened at this distinguished gathering. Throughout its history, the International Passive House Congress had been held exclusively in Europe for 22 editions, making this conference's arrival in Asia, specifically China, a noteworthy milestone.
Originating in Germany, passive house design epitomizes ultra-low energy consumption buildings, commonly referred to as "green buildings" in China. These structures offer year-round comfort and energy efficiency without relying on traditional coal-fired or gas-based heating systems in winter or energy-intensive air conditioning in summer. The proliferation and development of passive house technology hold profound significance in the realm of sustainable construction.
The conference is jointly sponsored by the International Passive House League (IPHA), Baoding Municipal Government, and Hebei Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. The event is hosted by the Gaobeidian Municipal Government and China International Door and Window City. Under the overarching theme of "Passive House All Over the World," the conference facilitates comprehensive exchanges pertaining to cutting-edge global passive building technologies, recent passive house projects,innovative advancements in passive building techniques tailored to diverse climatic zones, and resilient responses to extreme weather conditions. The conference program encompasses the main forum of the International Passive House Conference, alongside 20 parallel forums and 10 parallel forums of the International Door and Window Expo.
Notably, the Werkman GVG90 series vacuum glass system window garnered the special prize at the 23rd Passive House World Congress, affirming Werkman's pioneering contributions to vacuum glass and door and window system technologies, firmly establishing their position at the vanguard of global advancements in this domain.
